Short and sweet: I just like to write. I often find myself scribbling on anything that could potentially be used as notepaper: napkins, coffee sleeves, receipts and whatever else I can get my hands on. I started to write for my high school’s newspaper on accident. In my senior year, I was on my way to a swim meet and I stopped in the journalism room with my friend, who was on the paper. The teacher asked me if I wanted to take the school’s Nikon D-70 to take some photos and possibly write a story. With great hesitation, I agreed and was given a quick 5 minute lesson on how to use the camera.
And everything unfolded from there. I found myself a member of the “Lancer” not only as a writer/photographer, but as a Co-Sports Editor and Co-Photography Editor. That year, the newspaper was awarded the prestigious “Sparty Award” through the Michigan Interscholastic Press Association (MIPA) and received a couple awards. I always think that it’s ironic that one of the awards I received was a first place award for Sports Photography for a swim picture that had won.
Since graduating, I’ve made the decision to follow this “niche” I discovered in high school and am studying to be a journalist. I still help out with the “Lancer,” and write for FanBolt.com where I’ve been offered to have my own blog on the site.
My main purpose of this blog is to showcase my published works in hopes of taking my career to a higher level. If you like what you read, or don’t like it, leave me some feedback. It’s always appreciated.
